And the One
The End of Many
Also called “the Kedaac Prophecy” or “The Poem of the One, the End”
—
From the Midlands,
The land of Sun
From the Place of Wind
The Place of Rain
From thus, one shall rise
The end of many
From the Line of Raven
The Line of Horse
From the Line of Thunder
The Line of Wheat
From thus, one shall rise
The end of many
From the Line of the North
The Line of the Desert
From the Line of the Free Man
The Line of the Prophet
From thus, one shall rise
The end of many
From the Line of the Sun
To the Line of the Mad One
To take the Sword
To hold the Staff
From thus, one shall rise
The end of many
To break the tide
To break the dark
To be a beacon,
One of The Name
One shall rise
The end of many
Josiah; this one was a fun one. Most of what I write is written from a Christ-follower's perspective, but this poem was in the vein of a fan-fiction. One of my enduring favorite book series is SM Stirling's Emberverse series of novels, a fascinating combination of the science fiction, post-apocalyptic, fantasy, and alternate history genres. I've long wanted to write about a group of people set within that universe, but on the opposite side of the continent from Stirling's main character and hero, Rudi Mackenzie (who's in the Pacific Northwest region). This prophecy is from this group, which dwells within the hills and valleys of the Ozarks, and calls themselves the People of the Spirit or the JeD’deii. The Prophet Kedaac is one of these People, and has long foretold of Rudi Mackenzie, or "The One, the End of Many." Hope you enjoy, and please check out the Emberverse series!
